Randy VanZant
Born: August 11, 1957, Dayton, Ohio
Graduated from Trotwood-Madison High School in 1975
Wife Joan, 3 children
Maintainer, City of Vandalia
Randy’s first exposure to racing was as a child being around a family friend’s USAC sprint car racing team.
In 1986 Randy formed a street stock team and began his stock car racing career. He accomplished track championships in 1987 and 1988. Other members of the crew drove in competition in VanZant built cars and overall the team accomplished five track championships.
With the help of car owner Jerry Haupt and his original crew, Randy moved into the late-model division in 1989. Off and on, the team ran late models through 1997, picking up wins and only 4 DNF’s (Did Not Finish) in eight years. A desire for more exposure for the team and sponsors spurred the decision to put together an ARCA series team.
Since 1998, the team has competed in 32 ARCA events, which included top 10 finishes and a consistent showing in the top 15. Randy was runner-up in the 1999 Rookie of the Year standings. The plan for 2002 is to run all short track events, and possibly up to 4 superspeedway races. With the experience of the last 4 years and a recent investment in newer cars and equipment, 2002 promises to be the most competitive year ever.
